Brian graduated from Newton North High School, Newton, Massachusetts and attended MassBay Community College in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts from 2009 to 2014 through its Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment and Transitional Scholars Programs. Brian founded the MassBay Glee Club and was a member of MassBay’s Student Government Association (SGA). Brian worked at Massachusetts Advocates for Children (MAC) as their first Youth Leader Fellow from 2012-2013. Since September 2013, Brian has been on the staffs of Massachusetts State Senator Cynthia Creem and Massachusetts State Representative Kay Khan. In March 2014, Brian joined the staff of Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo. In addition, Brian works part-time at Star Supermarket and is a host at Wally’s World at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. Brian has also worked at the Newton Public Library and at the City of Newton Mayor’s Office. Brian served on the Higher Education Task Force on Inclusion of Students with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, chaired by Massachusetts State Representative Tom Sannicandro.
Through a variety of public speaking engagements, Brian has shared his personal story with many audiences. Brian is an award winning speaker and has presented to numerous elementary school classes in Newton and Brookline through the Understanding Our Differences Program. He has also presented to graduate school programs at Harvard University, Boston University and Brandeis University. As a collaborator with local politicians and advocacy groups, Brian’s voice has been heard while fighting politically to ensure adequate legislation and funding for programs for students with special needs. He strongly believes that special needs students should have independence, self-determination and freedom to do anything that they want to do.
